On the 15th November, the Dutch Prime Minister, Mr Mark Rutte visited our depot in Ashton, Wigan along with the Wigan Mayor, Cllr Joy Birch. The visit to Ashton was part of a day discussion Anglo Dutch trade relations.

Mr Rutte arrived in Ashton following seperate business discussions with Prime Minister David Cameron and Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg and business leaders at Downing Street.

During the tour of the Ashton Depot, Harry Koorstra, CEO of Post NL which owns TNT Post, showed Mr Rutte how our mail is sorted using our latest postal machinery and how TNT Post is investing significant sums in its operations. They also discussed how TNT Post plans to create new jobs across the UK as the company grows.

Discussing this visit our CEO, Nick Wells said, "We are really honoured to have Prime Minister Rutte visit our Ashton depot. TNT Post has a strong presence in the North West where we work with many local companies both large and small as well as public sector organisations.

"We aim to provide customers with an efficient and cost effective service and we were pleased to be able to show how we are investing significantly in the area and hope to continue to employ many more people in the area as we grow."

The visiting delegation focused heavily on innovation, transport and logistics. The Dutch Embassy stated that Mr Rutte intended to use his visit to underline Dutch recognition for the significance of the wider North West region as an engine for growth and innovation in the UK, and its importance to the Dutch economy.
