Partnership

We have joined in the fight against hunger in partnership with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), and help to provide food aid to some 90 million people in 70 countries each year.

We support the WFP’s school meals programme in Malawi, where children from poor families are offered at least one nutritious meal a day when they attend school. The free meal encourages parents to send their children to school, and the children get an education that can help them break free of the cycle of hunger and poverty.

Stakeholders

TNT Post recognises the importance of having good relationships with all its stakeholders

We maintain clear, timely and open communications with our employees, and we also focus attention on both our customer and supplier relationships. We offer our customers the option to send carbon neutral mail or green post, and we have established sustainability standards for our suppliers.

Environment

Letters, packets and parcels must cover considerable distances to reach their destinations and this inevitably generates carbon emissions and impacts the environment. Road transport and energy use in our own buildings are our largest carbon contributors.

On transport, we are always looking to improve our carbon efficiency, for example by optimising vehicle loads, and planning the shortest possible routes. We invest in energy-efficient technology and cleaner fuels, employing advanced Euro5 engine technology and soot filters in our delivery fleet, and we encourage clean and safe driving techniques.

We have concentrated our operations into fewer buildings and we closely monitor our energy usage and efficiency. Our investments in efficient modern equipment such as installing state-of-the-art sorting machines in our depots, also contribute to a measurable reduction in emissions. Our managers act as energy-efficiency ambassadors to encourage best practices in the workplace.

To broaden awareness of environmental issues, we offer our customers the opportunity to offset the carbon emissions that arise from the delivery of their mail.
