Employment in South West London was boosted recently with the creation of 500 new jobs here at TNT Post.

Created as part of our expansion of end-to-end delivery services, the majority of our new posties – many of whom have been unemployed for lengthy periods – hail from the local areas of Hammersmith & Fulham, Wandsworth, Merton and Lambeth.

The successful candidates were recruited as a result of our fruitful partnerships with the Work Programme for the long-term unemployed, Remploy and Youth Contract, with 150 of the new employees aged between 18 and 24.

One new recruit, Compton Gaskin, who had been unemployed for two years before securing the position through Remploy, commented upon leaving the unit after working a 10-hour shift: “I achieved something today – I worked.”

Encouragingly, since April 2012 we’ve created a total of 1,000 jobs in London with plans to increase that number significantly in the next five years.
