PRO-CURE, the main NHS provider of commercial services across Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, and Hampshire, has signed a two-year contract with TNT Post, which will make postal savings at a time of escalating prices.

The contract covers PRO-CURE and its two partners in the NHS Commercial Alliance: NHS Commercial Solutions and the East of England Collaborative Procurement Hub.  The partnership with more than 70 member NHS trusts seeks to maximise its purchasing power securing better value across a range of categories. It secured a two-day delivery service with TNT Post with forecast savings of more than £300k.

Lee Collins, Managing Director of PRO-CURE, said:

“The NHS is under enormous pressure to make efficiency savings and we are really pleased that with TNT Post we have secured cash savings on postal collection services at a time of escalating prices.”

The savings were achieved through combining the volume of 19 trusts across the south and east of England – a total of seven million letters annually.

Four of PRO-CURE’s customer trusts in Hampshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, will initially benefit from the competitive price, which came into effect from July 1st.

Nick Wells, CEO TNT Post UK, commented:

“More than ever before public savings are paramount. TNT Post is committed to effective and sustainable competition which reduces costs, incentivises innovation and encourages efficiency, and we are excited to be contributing to NHS savings.”

Since Ofcom lifted Royal Mail price caps the cost of first and second class stamps has increased and crucially so has the cost of franked mail which raised charges to secondary postal providers. The TNT Post service eliminates the use of franking machines and the capital/on-going costs of supporting the equipment.
