adMail caters specifically for addressed direct mail promoting the sale or use of products or services, or to encourage, contribute or support a cause.

An adMail posting should comprise at least 4,000 mailing items per service per day, and in the case of Access 700 CBC, at least 10,000 mailing items per day.
To qualify for adMail all items must:
- Be addressed direct mail letter format mailing items
- Meet data suppression guidelines
- Use an adMail specific indicia
- Include Royal Mail and TNT Post on a seed list

The following are required of all data-sets used on adMail items:
- A documented procedure must be in place and used to suppress customer and prospect data against consumer and business files (e.g. Mailing Preference Service, MPS).
Each address list for adMail postings shall be run against these files 30 days or less before the posting is prepared. - An internal suppression file must be kept and maintained to ensure opt-outs are properly logged, and each campaign must be run against these files 30 days or less before the posting is prepared
Indicia
Indicia's on all adMail items should apply an "A9" prefix in place of the default "C9". This allows Royal Mail to verify the item is running on adMail and meets the relevant specifications.
Seed mailing items
For each mailing we ask that that Royal Mail and TNT Post are included on either a prior seeding list, or the live posting, to verify conformance to the adMail specification.
