TNT Post sees significant growth in public sector mail

Celebrates national procurement contract retention for the public sector Aims to build on 2009's four-fold growth in public sector mail volumes in 2010

London, 30 July 2010: TNT Post has today announced the successful retention of its public sector procurement contract with Buying Solutions for downstream access and hybrid mail through TNT Post's innovative hybrid postal service. TNT Post will be retained on the supplier roster for these services across public sector bodies for another four years.

This announcement comes as TNT Post reports strong growth in annualised mail volumes of 377% for its current public sector clients, now carrying hundreds of millions of items each year. This impressive growth is set to continue, as central government departments such as HMRC move over to TNT Post to handle their entire mailing outputs.

TNT Post's retention on the postal services supplier roster for 2010 and the significant growth in mail volumes highlights public sector client confidence in TNT Post's tailored regional service, which offers customers innovation with value for money: values which are central to the public sector agenda. Through TNT Post's procurement offering, its public sector customers make an average annual saving of nearly 18 per cent compared to existing contracts with the Royal Mail. In fact, TNT Post's Downstream Access (DSA) services have saved government and business at least £150 million against Royal Mail charges since operations began in 2004.

It is because of these types of savings and quality service that TNT Post, working with government procurement bodies such as Buying Solutions, Value Wales, Scottish Procurement and Eastern Shires Purchasing Organisation (ESPO), has expanded its public sector customer base to several hundred organisations. This includes local councils and hospitals, all of which receive an integrated and efficient postal service.

TNT Post's efficient and unparalleled customer service ensures that public sector body customers such as Ashford Borough Council benefit from choice on price, product and service in the postal market. All customers benefit from dedicated account management and a cost effective solution according to their specified requirements.

Peter Brooker, facilities officer, Ashford Borough Council said,

“Our partnership with TNT Post for the collection, sorting and delivery of our mail has allowed us greater flexibility in our budget. It has ensured significant savings through cost effective solutions and increased efficiency, all of which are essential in providing good, effective public service.”

Nick Wells, chief executive of TNT Post, commented:

“The fantastic growth in the public sector is a trend which TNT Post hopes to continue to build on throughout 2010 and beyond. TNT Post is committed to providing customers, both public and private, with a mail solution which delivers service and savings. Our tailored provision in the regions to public sector customers is our winning ticket. We have listened to what this sector wants and delivered on it.”
