TNT Post has become a major postal provider for the Welsh public sector -
Predicted to be the biggest postal contract win in Wales since deregulation of the postal market -
£1million projected savings to benefit Welsh tax payers

20 August 2007

This month, TNT Post's South West & South Wales team has started handling mail for two NHS Trusts in the Welsh public sector in what is predicted to be the biggest postal deal in the country since full deregulation of the postal service in 2006.

The deal will see TNT Post work collaboratively with Value Wales, under the OGC Buying Solutions Framework as a supplier to public sector organisations in Wales. By working in partnership with Value Wales, TNT Post will look to handle across the Public Sector over 100,000 items a day by the end of the first year, resulting in the Welsh tax payer saving an estimated £1 million. The first bodies to work with TNT Post to deliver innovative postal solutions and create the platform for other public sector bodies to benefit from these savings will be the Cardiff and Vale NHS Trust and Gwent Healthcare NHS Trusts. Together they will pass an estimated 12,000 mail items daily to TNT Post in South Wales and as a result of these savings, the Trusts will be able to channel this money into the delivery of their front-line services.

Following the contract signings with the two NHS trusts, TNT Post in South Wales, with an office in Cardiff, has become a major postal partner for the Welsh public sector and now has the opportunity to roll out its service to other organisations through collaborative strategic development of further Public sector bodies. The postal operator's service offers valuable benefits to the Welsh public sector and the 3 million people who live in Wales such as:

  • Value for money
  • Service levels in line with industry standards
  • Flexible pick up times
  • Collaborative approach to doing business
  • Locally skilled account management teams with a local focus
  • Fast and reliable 2 day service
  • Innovative solutions to enable on-going cost reductions
  • Projected £1million savings in the first year of the contract

Nick Wells, Chief Executive for TNT Post in the UK, said: "We are extremely pleased that TNT Post will now be a key postal partner to the public sector in Wales. TNT Post is used to cutting the cost of post for its customers and it's great to see that we are now helping public services such as the Welsh NHS to be a direct beneficiary of these savings. Growing our customer base in this region is a key interest for us and by working in partnership with Value Wales, we look forward to seeing more Welsh public sector bodies come on board and reap the benefits of excellent customer service, innovation and value for money that we can offer."

TNT Post in the South West & South Wales has to date secured a number of significant customer wins during the first six months of trading and now has more than 50 customers in the area.
