Sustainability

Social responsibility is an integral part of our business. In 2005 we entered the Dow Jones Sustainability Index. In 2007 we led it. In 2008, we continue to lead it.

Our goal is to become the first zero emission mail and express delivery company. This ambition requires going beyond regulatory compliance and customer expectation. It demands responsible leadership and a commitment to make a lasting difference. The very nature of our business means that we contribute to the problem; therefore, we must be part of the solution.

Our approach is encapsulated in 'planet me', a three-pronged initiative to reduce CO2 emissions radically. It comprises:

    Count Carbon - a commitment to report on and be transparent about our carbon footprint
    Code Orange - a comprehensive programme for reducing emissions from our operations
    Choose Orange - encouraging employees to reduce emissions in their personal lives

TNT Post's carbon footprint in the UK is 4,578 tonnes, 0.45% of the Group's total of 1019 ktonnes.

TNT Post has launched the UK's first CarbonNeutral® mailing service and is committed to working with its customers and other stakeholders to adopt practices aimed at minimising environmental impact.
